Manual Handling

The units of competency covered in this course are:

  • TLID1001 Shift Materials Safely Using Manual Handling Methods

 At the successful completion of this course you will be able to: 

  • Identify the risks hazards associated with manual handling activities, including fatigue management
  • Describe the types of injuries that can result from unsafe manual handling activities
  • Identify techniques that can reduce the likelihood of injuries from manual handling activities
  • Outline factors that must be considered when planning for manual handling activities
  • Identify the requirements for safe handling and use of hazardous substances
  • Outline the correct manual handling techniques for lifting, lowering and carrying, pulling and pushing and points of balance in accordance with workplace procedures and OH&S standards
  • Demonstrate correct team lifting techniques.
