At the successful completion of this course you will be able to:

  • Understand the principles and recognise the different forms of communication
  • Understand techniques for asking questions and actively listening
  • Participate in group discussions to achieve appropriate work outcomes

  • Effectively Communicate information about routine tasks, processes, events
  • Understand general Housekeeping obligations and standards
  • Learn how to monitor and maintain cleanliness and tidiness in the workplace to avoid environmental incidents and impact
  • Identify the Housekeeping requirements, procedures and resources for different parts of the workplace
  • Understand the importance of SEPs, TRAs and Start Cards in effective Housekeeping and management
  • Understand the maintenance of Plant & Equipment, Cleaning Equipment and Materials and how it relates to environmental management
  • Understand and Recognise Material data safety sheets
  • Understand the principles of Environmental Management and Protection - What are we protecting – i.e. native vegetation, air quality, cultural heritage etc.
  • Understand the requirements of environmental legislation and regulation and how it relates to you
  • Identify the regulatory bodies in relation to environmental protection
  • Learn about how Environmental Assessments are undertaken for your project
  • Learn to recognise environmentally sensitive sites and features and the precautions to be taken to avoid damage
  • Learn how to minimise the effects of pollution and avoid environmental damage during daily activities
  • Understand the waste hierarchy of avoid, reuse, recycle and least preferable dispose
  • Safely transport store and handle environmentally hazardous substances
  • Minimise the effects of pollution during work
  • Minimise the effects of pollution during maintenance
  • Avoid environmental damage
